VMware cloud on AWS (VMC)

Clumio provides backup and restore capabilities to protect the assets in your VMware Cloud on AWS VMs.

The vCenter Summary dashboard displays the following information:

  • Protection Overview: Shows the policy status for all the Virtual Machines (VMs): In policy, Out of policy, or No Policy Applied.
  • Success Rate: Shows the success rate for backups and restores in the last 7 days.
  • Protected Entities: Shows the number of protected VMs and the amount of data protected.
  • Active Alerts: Shows any alerts that have not been cleared.

Your assigned role determines the actions you can do in the Clumio UI. For example, users who are assigned to the "Reporting/Audit admin" role can only view and not add, edit or delete assets. To learn more about roles, see Roles.

vCenter Status

To view all of your vCenters, go to VMware > vCenters. From here, you can see the following:

  • vCenters on your account
  • vCenter status
  • Number of protected and unprotected VMs

The available statuses for vCenters include the following:

  • Connected: All of the Cloud Connectors associated with this vCenter are connected to the Clumio service.
  • Disconnected: None of the Cloud Connectors associated with this vCenter are connected to the Clumio service.
To manually disconnect a Cloud Connector, go to VMware > vCenters > [vCenter IP address or FQDN]. Click the Settings icon, and select Cloud Connector Settings. On the Cloud Connector Settings page, click Disconnect vCenter.

If the vCenter has become disconnected unintentionally, this may be due to network issues, or invalid credentials. Go to the Alerts page for more detail, or contact Clumio Support.

  • Connecting: The Cloud Connectors associated with this vCenter are in the process of connecting to the Clumio service.
This process usually takes about 5 minutes to complete. If the vCenter is in the Connecting state for an extended period of time, it may be because the inventory is still being synced, or the connection has not reached Clumio. If the vCenter continues to be stuck in the Connecting status, contact Clumio Support.
  • Partially Connected: The vCenter has more than one Cloud Connector, and some of the Cloud Connectors are connected while some have lost connection.
To manually disconnect a Cloud Connector, go to VMware > vCenters > [vCenter IP address or FQDN]. Click the Settings icon, and select Cloud Connector Settings. On the Cloud Connector Settings page, click Disconnect vCenter.

If the vCenter has become disconnected unintentionally, this may be due to network issues or invalid credentials. Go to the Alerts page for more details, or contact Clumio Support.
