Managing protection groups

Creating protection groups

  1. Navigate to Protect > S3 protection groups and click Create Protection Group.
  2. Type a name for the protection group.
  3. You can now choose to select the Automated protection option or manually add buckets to the protection group. You can also manually select additional buckets to add to the protection group, even if you select the Automated protection option.
The Automated protection option automatically protects buckets by account, region, and/or tag depending on the conditions you select.
All buckets with the specified conditions will be automatically added to the protection group. The selected conditions will apply to all current and future buckets.
    Click Next.
  4. You can also manually select buckets to add to the protection group. Filter the list by bucket name or AWS environment. Click Next.
  5. The Advanced options dialog lets you further refine your protection group options.
    1. Storage Class: Select the storage class from which to include objects in the protection group. The storage class you select will affect your cost. Refer to AWS documentation for more information about storage classes.
    2. Include Version(s): Select an option to protect all versions or the latest version at the time of the backup.
    3. Prefix: Type the prefix or prefixes you want to add to the protection group. If you want to include all objects under that prefix, you must include a trailing slash, for example, to protect all objects under the prefix โ€˜dblogsโ€™, type dblogs/. You can exclude a specific prefix under the prefix you typed.
  6. Select a policy to apply to your protection group. Click Next.
  7. Review the selection summary and click Create.

Note: Once you apply a policy to a protection group, that protection group will be locked to the destination specified in the policy.
