Updating Clumio Cloud Connector VM vApp settings

Purpose

This document describes the process for updating vApp settings of Clumio Cloud Connector VM. The vApp settings that can be modified include vCenter Credentials and Networking Properties.

Prerequisites

The user must have valid administrative credentials to the following:

  1. vCenter administrative access to manage the deployed Clumio Cloud Connector VM.
  2. Clumio service credentials used to access the Clumio administrative Web UI.

Resolution

Step-by-step instructions are documented below for updating the VM vApp settings for vCenter versions 6.5 and 6.7. Please refer to the section that corresponds to your vCenter version.

vCenter 6.5

  1. Log into the vCenter console via vSphere Web client.
  2. Power OFF the Clumio Cloud Connector virtual machine.
  3. Once theCloud Connector is powered down, right-click the VM and select "Edit Settings".
  4. Select the "vApp Options" tab.
    • To update vCenter Credentials: Click the drop-down for "1. vCenter Credentials" and provide the updated Username and Password values.
    • To update network settings: Click the drop-down for "3. Networking Properties" and provide the updated network settings. Please note that leaving the fields blank will configure the Cloud Connector to leverage DHCP for network configuration.
    • Click OK
  5. Once the updated configuration changes have been made, click "OK" to exit the prompt.
  6. Power ON the Clumio Cloud Connector virtual Machine.

vCenter 6.7

  1. Log into the vCenter console via vSphere Web client (HTML5).
  2. Power OFF the Clumio Cloud Connector virtual machine.
  3. Once the Cloud Connector is powered down, select the Cloud Connector VM and navigate to the "Configure" tab.
  4. Under "Settings", select "vApp Options".
  5. vApp setting values can then be updated in the "Properties" section.
    • To update vCenter Credentials: Select the "Username" or "Password" labeled properties and click "SET VALUE", update the value here.
    • To update network settings: Select the "Network 1 IP Address", "DNS", "Network 1 Netmask", or "Default Gateway" labeled properties and click "SET VALUE", update the value here.
    • Click OK
  6. Power ON the Clumio Cloud Connector virtual Machine.

Additional Steps

In case of Interactive Cloud Connector VM with UI Console like below 

  1. Login through the VM UI Console with Username / Password. Reach out to [email protected] for the credentials).
  2. Hit Apply on the Configuration page to save the changes.

Validation

  • To validate Cloud Connector connectivity, log into your Clumio WebUI via browser: west.portal.clumio.com or east.portal.clumio.com depending on your tenant setup.
  • Upon logging in to the Clumio WebUI, navigate to All vCenters and check on the "STATUS" of the vCenter connection. The "STATUS" should show "Connected" for a healthy Clumio Cloud Connector.

Note: After powering-up a Cloud Connector, there may be a 3-5 minute time delay before connectivity status is updated in the Clumio WebUI.
